CQU Professor Wins PCHA Healthy Longevity Award

At the International Connected Health Summit held in Boston this week, Professor Zhong Daidi from the School of Bioengineering of CQU is awarded the “PCHA Healthy Longevity Award” by Doctor Patty, executive chairman of PCHA, in recognition is his contribution to the global personal connected health industry in the past 11 years. Zhong is the first winner of this prize in China . The organizations and individuals that have won awards include Mr. Horst Merkle from Roche, Philips, IPSOS Healthcare and Orange.

 

With respect to granting of the award, Doctor Patty says that Professor Zhong, as one of the long-term leaders engaged in PCHA related work, has successively guided the development of related international standards (ISO and ITU) to ensure that the personal health devices are able to exchange data securely. Furthermore, Zhong also helped with promotion of PCHA in China and in the entire world.

PCHA is a non-profit industrial alliance, and is the largest international organization in the connected health area. Its mission is to cooperate with the technical industry, medical care and health, public policy, scientific research innovation and promoting groups to create an interconnected business environment of the global health sector and develop new business mode and create values for stakeholders by establishing a personal health solution with interoperability. PCHA has rich experience in interoperable technology of personal health devices. The “Continua Design Guide” released by PCHA is now widely used in the global personal connected health industry, and is now used as the only industrial consistency standard of the sector with respect to the end-to-end interoperability. PCHA members are enterprises from the information technology, medical instrument, and medical care and health areas and related international organizations and government organs, such as FDA, Philips, Simense, Intel, Qualcomm, Roche, Samsung, China Mobile, and Huawei.

 

Chongqing University is one of the members of PCHA. Professor Zhong has participated in and directed many of the PCHA projects, and made significant contributions to the development of PCHA worldwide. In addition, Zhong is acting as the chairman of the International Personal Health Device Standard Committee, and a member of the IEEE Standard Association. He has directed and completed the compilation and drafting of ISO/IEEE 11073-PHD series and ITU-T H.810 series international standards, and participated in several ITU&WHO projects in the digital medical care area, which expedited implementation of the above international standards in the world.

Before that, Professor Zhong has won the top award for national internationalization in recognition of his achievements mentioned above, the first prize of China award for contributions to standard innovation. At present, the team led by Professor Zhong is devoted to implementing the personal connected health solutions that meet the international standards for related domestic enterprises in China, in an effort to help them enter the international market, and encourage more and more Chinese enterprises to participate in the international industrial cooperation and regulation development, and disseminate the successful experience of the international industrial circle in the industrial circle of China, in an ultimate effort to foster the development of China’s personal connected health industry.
