Professor Cai Kaiyong included in 2017 New Century Talents Project

Recently, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of China published the list of persons included in 2017 New Century Talents Project. Professor Cai Kaiyong of the School of Bioengineering, Chongqing University is included in the 2017 New Century Talents Project and is dubbed the “young and middle-aged expert with outstanding contributions”.

Cai Kaiyong, male, born in August 1973, of Han nationality, a professor and doctoral candidate of Chongqing University, a specially appointed professor under the Chang Jiang Scholars Program of the Ministry of Education, winner of Science & Technology Award for Chinese Youth, and vice dean of the School of Bioengineering, CQU. He is currently a councilor of the Chinese Society of Biomedical Engineering, and a member of the Youth Committee of and the Standing Committee of Biochemical Metallic Material Branch, Chinese Society for Biomaterials and editorial board member of Frontiers of Materials Sciences, AIMS Materials Science, International Journal of Biomedical Nano Research, Journal of Biochemical Engineering, Functional Materials, Surface Technology, and Materials Review. Professor Cai has been engaged in researches in areas such as biological materials and surface and interfaces, and the nano-drug controlled release system, and has directed more than 20 national and provincial or ministerial scientific research projects. He has published more than 120 SCI indexed papers in journals such as Adv Mater, Angew Chem Int Ed, ACS Nano and Biomaterials and has obtained 9 invention patents of China. His papers have been cited via SCI for more than 2,600 times.

 

The New Century Talents Project was launched in 1995. In 2012, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of China published the new Implementation Scheme of the New Century Talent Project. According to the Scheme, from 2012 on, about 4,000 “engineering” national candidates will be selected in a planned and targeted manner in 10 years or so. The candidates should be high-level young and middle aged leading talents at the frontiers of science and technology that are able to lead and support national key scientific and technological projects, and leap-for-ward development in key areas. From 1995 when the Project was launched to present, 25 persons of Chongqing  University have been included in the Project.
