2018 Yangtze River International Conference of Oncology held in Chongqing

On May 11, 2018, the opening ceremony of “2018 Yangtze River International Conference of Oncology” is held at Yuzhou Hotel. The Conference, co-sponsored by Chongqing Cancer Hospital, the Affiliated Cancer Hospital of Chongqing University and Chongqing Cancer  Center, will last from May 10 to 12. The Conference focuses on “regulation, precision and integration” and aims to serve as an open and professional academic exchange platform for oncology.

 

At the opening ceremony, Wang Shilong, vice president of Chongqing University, extends on behalf of CQU his warm welcome to the experts and scholars present at the Conference, and gives an introduction to the development history of Chongqing University, with emphasis laid on the efforts made and accomplishments achieved by Chongqing University in restoration and development of the medical discipline. Wang adds that in the process of co-building the “Affiliated Cancer Hospital of Chongqing University”, the two should give full play to their respective advantages in resources and constantly promote in-depth cooperation in areas such as disciplinary construction, scientific research and talent cultivation, expedite the “Double-First-Rate” construction of Chongqing University, promote the medical treatment strength and level the Cancer Hospital, thus ultimately contributing to the development of Chongqing’s medical and health services.

Yu Jinming, an academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and director of Shandong Cancer Hospital, Fan Daiming, an academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and director of Xijing Hospital of Digestive Diseases, Huang Minghui, secretary of CPC Committee and director of Chongqing Health and Family Planning Commission and Wu Yongzhong, director of Chongqing Cancer Hospital, respectively deliver a speech at the opening ceremony. They all extend congratulations on the opening of this Conference and express their wish that breakthroughs would be made in diagnosis and treatment of cancers and their determination to co-build a “Healthy China”.

After the opening ceremony, the releasing ceremony of the Series of Books on Prevention and Treatment of Cancers is held. The Series of Books are handed out to 14 representative organizations including universities, communities and media.

The Series of Books contain 13 volumes and include more than 700,000 characters. They are compiled jointly by more than 100 experts who have been long engaged in research of prevention and treatment of cancers and clinical work, as led by Wu Yongzhong, the director of Chongqing Cancer Hospital. Pan Fusheng, an academician of Chinese  Academy of Engineering, chairman of Chongqing Association for Science and Technology and a CQU professor, congratulates on release of the Series of Books and highlights the importance of popularization of scientific knowledge on cancer. He also expresses his hope that a good atmosphere in which everyone “learns science, uses sciences and upholds science” will be created in the society.
