China-Guinea “Energy Economics and Environmental Sustainability” Program launched successfully

On the morning of December 3, 2018, the opening ceremony of China-Guinea “Energy Economics and Environmental Sustainability” Program was held at Conference Room 504, Main Building, Campus A, Chongqing University. Zhang Dingyu, deputy director of Standing Committee, Chongqing People’s Congress, Zhou Xun, secretary of CPC CQU Committee, Liu Yanbing, deputy director of Chongqing Education Commission, Xiong Lin, deputy director of Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce, Wang Wen, deputy director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Chongqing Municipality, as well as officials and representatives of Chongqing Development and Reform Commission, were present at the ceremony. Liu Hanlong, vice president of Chongqing University, presided over the ceremony.

Zhou Xun extended his sincere welcome to the senior officials of Guinea who participated in the Program. He stated that the purpose of the Program is to enhance mutual understanding between China and African countries through education and cultural communication, utilizing the advantageous education resources of Chongqing University, in an ultimate effort to facilitate cooperation and exchange between China and Africa in areas like energy and environment. It is also in response to the “Co-building a Closer China-Africa Community of Common Destiny” Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping, the “Belt and Road” Initiative and the “Three Tough Fights” and “Eight Action Plans” of Chongqing.

Ma Wei, president of Zhongshe Engineering Consultancy (Chongqing) Co., Ltd., delivered a speech as a representative of the co-organizing enterprises. She pointed out that Zhongshe Engineering Consultancy (Chongqing) Co., Ltd. had signed a cooperation framework agreement with the National Major Project Management Bureau of Guinea and hopefully with progress of the “Belt and Road” construction and partnership between China and Africa, more and more enterprises would start to cooperate with African countries like Guinea in terms of investment in infrastructure and technical services.

Dr. Mu Sa, an alumnus of Chongqing University, delivered a speech on behalf of the students of the Program as head of the Program Delegation. He expressed his gratitude to Chongqing University for preparation efforts made for the Program and to the co-organizing enterprises for their generous support. Mu Sa also shared his predestined relationship with China and Chongqing University, and added that this Program is of great significance, and would set an example of talent cultivation cooperation between China and Guinea. The students will cherish this opportunity and learn and explore the development experience and patterns of China, so as to make contributions to the development of Guinea and the friendship between China and Guinea.

Zhang Dingyu congratulated on the opening of the Program. He pointed out that China is a comprehensive strategic partner of Africa. As the cooperation between China and Africa deepens, the commercial and trading contacts between Chongqing and African countries are becoming closer, and the cooperation prospect is also promising. He expressed his hope that this Program would serve as a driving force for cooperation and communication between Chongqing and Guinea in a number of areas including energy and resource development and utilization and infrastructure construction.

This Program will last 15 days from December 1 to 15, 2018. It has won active support and sponsoring of Zhongshe Engineering Consultancy (Chongqing) Co., Ltd., Chongqing Shuguang Urban Industrial Park Construction Group Co., Ltd., .Chongqing Xinmeiyu Boyang Aluminium Co., Ltd. and Chery Automobile Co., Ltd. The Program covers special lectures on topics like economics, environment and resource development, and other events such as enterprise match-making, field visit and Chinese culture experience. A total of 22 senior officials of the Guinean Prime Minister's Palace, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Ministry of Mining and Geology, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Communications, the Ministry of Public Works, the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Sports of Guinea have participated in this Program.
