The Ministry of Education has recently released the Decision on Issuing Outstanding Achievement Award (Science and Technology) for Scientific Research in Colleges and Universities of 2018. Totally 318 awards have been granted. Chongqing University wins 7 achievement awards as the leading organization, ranking the 9th place nationwide. Specifically, there are 2 first awards for natural science, 1 first award for progress in science and technology, 3 second awards for natural science and 1 second award for progress in science and technology. Chongqing University also wins 1 first award for natural science and 1 second award for progress in science and technology as a participating organization.
The “research of crack evolution mechanism and discontinuous numerical method for rock materials” directed by Professor Zhou Xiaoping of the School of Civil Engineer, and the “theory and method of strengthening and regulation of multi-field coupling energy and mass transfer” directed by Professor Liao Qiang of the School of Energy and Power Engineering have respectively won the first award for natural science. The “theory, technology and engineering application of steel tube-confined concrete structure” directed by Academician Zhou Xuhong of the School of Civil Engineering has won the first award for progress in science and technology.
The “the action mechanism of tumor treatment by irreversible electrical breakdown with micro-second steep-sided pulse” directed by Professor Yao Chenguo from the School of Electrical Engineering, “basic research of coordinated regulation between functional characteristics and mechanical property of magnesium-based functional materials” directed by Professor Chen Xianhua from the School of Material Science and Engineering, and the “’energy consumption law and regulation of ’machine tool-workshop’ for machining in a low-carbon manufacturing environment” directed by Professor He Yan from the School of Mechanical Engineering have won the second award for natural science. The “ice disaster prevention technology of power grid without power interruption and intelligent de-icing devices and their application” directed by Professor Zhang Zhijin from the School of Electrical Engineering has won the second award for progress in science and technology.
Furthermore, the “breakdown and standardization of complicated power system” undertaken by Sichuan University, with support of Professor Zhu Changrong from the School of Mathematics of Chongqing University, and the “theory and technology of near-and-far field cooperative control of rigid overlying strata in large-space faces” undertaken by China University of Mining and Technology, with support of Professor Xia Binwei from the School of Resources and Environmental Science of Chongqing University, have respectively won the first award for natural science and the second award for progress in science and technology.
The Outstanding Achievement Award (Science and Technology) for Scientific Research in Colleges and Universities are issued to colleges and universities all over China, and the selection is carried out once a year. The awards include award for natural science, award for technical invention, award for progress in science and technology and science and technology award for young people.
