With approval of the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television of the People's Republic of China, the Journal of Civil Engineering and Environmental Journal (Chinese and English), an English-Chinese academic journal run by Chongqing University under supervision of the Ministry of Education, issued its first volume in February 2019. The Journal of Civil Engineering and Environmental Journal (Chinese and English) mainly publishes latest research findings at home and abroad in areas such as civil engineering and environmental science and engineering, and it aims to promote academic exchange, nurture top talents and facilitate prosperity and development of related disciplines.
Totally 66 well-known scholars and experts from China, Japan, the UK and Singapore have been appointed as the editors of Journal of Civil Engineering and Environmental Journal (Chinese and English). Academician Zhou Xuhong from Chinese Academy of Engineering serves as director of the Editorial Board. Academician Yang Yongbin, Academician Peng Yongzhen, a Changjiang Scholar, and Professor Liu Hanlong, a National Outstanding Young Researcher, respectively act as the deputy directors. Professor Liu Hanlong also acts as the editor in chief. The Editorial Board also includes Yukio Tamura, a foreign academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, 14 Changjiang Scholars, and 19 winners of National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and Outstanding Youth Fund.
Of the 22 high-standard papers issued in the first volume, there is a research progress review with Editor in Chief Liu Hanlong as the first author, a research paper with Specially-appointed Professor Zheng Junjie, a Changjiang Scholar, as the first author, a research review respectively as Editor Zheng Huaili and Editor Guan Xiaohong as the first author, a research paper with Editor Wang Weiyong as the first author, a research paper respectively with Editor Wang Dong, Editor Xu Linrong, and Editor Jin Zuquan as the corresponding author, and a research paper as Editor Pan Yi as the author. There is one English paper included in the first volume.
As part of the efforts to “promote construction of high-standard academic journals” and in response to requirements of the “13th Five-year Plan” Development Planning for Academic Journals of Chongqing University (2016 to 2020), the Periodical Press has built on the key disciplines and disciplines with international competitiveness, and identified the focus disciplines, so as to highlight the characteristics of the journal. Utilizing the domestic and foreign academic resources of Chongqing University, efforts have been concentrated on international and professional transformation of the journal. As guided by Editor in Chief Liu Hanlong, and with substantial support of Chongqing University, devoted help offered by the Editorial Board, and efforts of the Periodical Press, the Civil Construction and Environmental Engineering was renamed as Journal of Civil and Environmental Engineering (Chinese and English) in January 2019, and its first volume was issued officially in February 2019. Chongqing University is going to build the journal as a high-standard international academic journal with high professional level, thus contributing to the “Double-First-Rate” construction of Chongqing University.
