Recently, the results of national candidates for "New Century Talents Project" in 2019 organized by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of China have been announced. Professor Tang Baoping from the School of Mechanical Engineering, Chongqing University, was selected and awarded the honorary title of "expert with outstanding contribution".

Tang Baoping has long been engaged in the research of mechanical and electrical equipment safety service and life prediction, test and measurement technology, virtual instrument and wireless sensor network. At present, he is focusing on the research of equipment intelligent operation and maintenance in the mode of "Internet of Things-Edge Computing-Cloud Platform". As the main contributor, he has won one second national prize of technology invention, one second national prize of science and technology progress and one second national prize of teaching achievement. Tang is also an expert entitled to the special government allowance of the State Council and has been included in the Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University of the Ministry of Education, and the Cultivation Plan for the New Century Talents Project of Chongqing, and has won the youth science and technology achievement award of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, Chongqing Outstanding Youth Fund, Fok Ying-Tong Education Foundation for Young Teachers, young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions of Chongqing, and the 13^th "Chongqing Youth May 4^th Medal" and other academic awards and honors.

The "New Century Talents Project" is a national talent training plan organized and implemented nationwide by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance, the State Development Planning Commission, the National Natural Science Foundation, and the China Association for Science and Technology. Up to now, there are totally 566 candidates from organizations directly under the Ministry of Education.

On January 6, 2020, at the New Year Symposium of expert representatives held in Chongqing, entrusted by Chen Min’er, secretary of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee, and Tang Liangzhi, mayor of the municipality, Hu Wenrong, a standing member of CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee and head of the Organization Department, and Qu Qian, vice mayor of the municipality, presented experts included in the "New Century Talents Project" with certificates.
