2021 World Lymphoma Awareness Day series events held by CQU Cancer Hospital

In order to further raise the public's awareness of lymphoma and promote the standardization of lymphoma diagnosis and treatment, the 2021 World Lymphoma Awareness Day series events of Chongqing University Cancer Hospital were held in the International Academic Conference Hall on September 14. More than 200 people attended the event, including Xiang Lihua, secretary and chairman of the Party Group of Shapingba District Association for Science and Technology, Zhang Wei, deputy secretary of CPC Committee of the CQU Cancer Hospital and directors of relevant departments of four brother hospitals and some lymphoma patients.

The theme of the events is “All about Life and Love”. They were held to popularize the relevant knowledge of lymphoma diagnosis and treatment to the public, improve the public's scientific awareness of lymphoma, call on all sectors of society to give more care to the group of lymphoma patients, help patients establish the confidence to fight the disease, and contribute to "Health China 2030". The events were held at 1 main venue and 4 branch venues, and were live-streamed on line. Lymphoma patients, and their family and friends from all regions of Chongqing and four branch venues of the Three Gorges Hospital Affiliated to Chongqing University, Chongqing Qianjiang Central Hospital, Hechuan District People's Hospital and Jiangjin District Central Hospital participated in the series of events through online live-streaming.

Zhang Wei said in her speech that lymphoma, as one of the top ten common malignant tumors in China, has a young incidence population, and the prevention and treatment situation is grim. Lymphoma is a curable tumor. Therefore, it is particularly important to improve the public's scientific awareness of lymphoma and standardize the diagnosis and treatment process of lymphoma. In order to allow the patients to have a science-based understanding of the disease and improve their confidence in overcoming the disease, the Blood Tumor Center of our Hospital, in collaboration with four brother organizations of Qijiang, Wanzhou, Hechuan and Jiangjin, successively launched events including online Q & A of lymphoma science popularization, the selection of lymphoma fighting stars in Chongqing, a series of scientific and general health lectures and free clinical treatment for public welfare in the early stage. Today, there are also activities such as the inauguration of Professor Liu Yao's Expert Science Popularization Studio, the inauguration of Joint Expert Lymphoma Science Popularization Studio and the release of 2021 Rehabilitation Guide. It is hoped that through a series of activities, we can provide practical help to patients and help them strengthen their confidence in fighting the disease.

Zhang Wei pointed out that in the process of expediting the construction of "one network and one chain" tumor prevention and treatment system, Chongqing University Cancer Hospital has always taken the standardized diagnosis and treatment of tumors and tumor science popularization as an important part of the tumor prevention and treatment network system. At present, a three-level cancer prevention and treatment network covering 11 secondary cancer hospitals, 25 tumor standardized diagnosis and treatment bases, 5 single-disease specialist alliances, 56 medical collaborative hospitals and 91 tumor specialist alliance member organizations has been established. In response to the new demand for health and the new pattern of cancer business development, the Hospital will continue to make proactive efforts, and start a new journey of development in the “14th Five-year Plan”

At the series of publicity activities of the Chongqing University Cancer Hospital, the Hematology Laboratory of the Chongqing University Cancer Hospital was established, and the Hematology Laboratory was inaugurated by Zhang Wei and Yang Zailin, director of the Hematology Laboratory. Yang Zailin said that the Laboratory will work on areas at the forefront of medical development, make constant efforts to transform scientific research achievements into clinical practice in areas such as the diagnosis and treatment, research and stem cell research, development and application of malignant blood tumors such as leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma, in an ultimate effort to promote the sustainable development of clinical medical technology, and provide better medical and health protection for the people of Chongqing.

At the National Science Popularization Day of 2021, Professor Liu Yao's Expert Science Popularization Studio was inaugurated by Xiang Lihua.

In order to better popularize the knowledge related to lymphoma diagnosis and treatment among the general public and improve their awareness of tumor prevention, in collaboration of Professor Zhang Bangshuo of Chongqing University Three Gorges Hospital, Professor Liu Enqiang of Chongqing Qianjiang Central Hospital, Professor Li Guojun of Hechuan District People’s Hospital and Professor Peng Chunfang of Jiangjin District Central Hospital, Chongqing University Cancer Hospital established a joint expert workshop on lymphoma, utilizing resources of “Professor Liu Yao's Expert Science Popularization Studio”. The purpose is to jointly promote the standardization of lymphoma diagnosis and treatment, enhance the scientific quality of the public and protect the health of the people.

To improve the lifetime and quality of life of patients, in addition to early detection and standardized treatment, rehabilitation follow-up is also an important part of lymphoma treatment. At the event venue, edited and reviewed by the expert group of the Blood Tumor Center of the Chongqing University Cancer Hospital, the 2021 edition of the Rehabilitation Guide for Lymphoma Patients was jointly issued by Chongqing University Three Gorges Hospital, Chongqing Qianjiang Central Hospital, Hechuan District People's Hospital and Jiangjin District Central Hospital. It is reported that the Guide (2021 Edition) mainly provides practical and effective guidance on the whole process management, regular follow-up and treatment of common chemotherapy side effects of patients with malignant lymphoma, and highlights good living habits, reasonable diet and nutrition, appropriate exercise and positive and optimistic attitude as the four elements of cancer patients' rehabilitation, so as to help with recovery and reintegration of lymphoma patients.

Cheng Fengmin, director of the Publicity and Education Department of the Hospital, announced the list of lymphoma fighting stars in 2021. In the early stage of the activity, the Blood Tumor Center of our Hospital launched the online selection activity of "Chongqing lymphoma fighting stars in 2021". Lymphoma patients in west China were invited to participate in the activity. Those patients shared their anti-cancer stories online, and got points based on the likes they won, and finally Chongqing lymphoma anti-cancer star in 2021 were selected by the offline expert group.

In the summary speech delivered by Liu Yao, he extended his heart-felt appreciation to those who had worked hard to prepare the activity, and expressed his thanks to the experts of the four brother organizations for their substantial support to the activity. Furthermore, Liu Yao also extended his gratitude to officials of Shapingba District Association for Science and Technology, Chongqing University Association for Science and Technology and Chongqing Cancer Rehabilitation Association for their care about the development of CQU Cancer Hospital. He added that the Blood Tumor Center will continue to focus on hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, make concentrated efforts to improve the level of diagnosis and treatment, and provide more standardized treatment for patients; efforts shall also be made to strengthen clinical research, tackle more difficult and miscellaneous diseases, and increase the chance of survival of more patients; continue to enhance publicity, so that good doctors, equipment and technology can be known by more patients. In particular, efforts will be made to strengthen the popular science publicity of lymphoma related knowledge, so as to allow the public to know lymphoma in a science-based manner.
