Seven Works of CQU’s School of Architecture and Urban Planning win top awards in 2021WUPENiCITY International Competition on Students Course Work of Urban Design

On September 21, 2021, the list of winners of the 2021WUPENiCITY “Future Intelligent Home” International Competition on Students Course Work of Urban Design, organized by WUPEN (World Urban Planning Education Network) made up of outstanding colleges and universities of planning all over the world. The student team of the School of Architecture and Urban Planning has won top awards. Among the total 50 gold awards, 7 went to Chongqing University.

Supervised by Ms. Yang Liu and designed by Jiang Jieru and Zhang Xinchi, students of the School of Architecture and Urban Planning, New Driving Mode Creates New Life-Intelligent Home Design Based on Driverless Technology was an urban design focusing on the distant future based on the understanding of driverless technology and urban space. The scheme base is located in Wanglonghu New Area, Yongchuan District, Chongqing. In the design process, the students made full use of the excellent natural environment of the base, explored the urban life mode prevailed by driverless technology, and built a future intelligent home on the wheel according to the planning needs of the New Area in the future.

Supervised by Mr. Hu Wen and designed by Li Jiahe and Li Ruochen, students of the School of Architecture and Urban Planning, the work "Invariability and Variability-A Variable Smart City Community Based On Real-Time Data Feedback" was a variable smart urban community based on the concept and technology of smart city, which does not only include the constant elements of the city, but is also able to better meet the variable needs of the city. On the one hand, the smart units are used in the works to make the buildings and public spaces in the community variable, so as to meet the changing needs of urban residents; on the other hand, based on data collection and real-time feedback regulation, the works is able to control and guide the variability of smart units in the community, so as to ensure that the constant elements in the city remain unchanged without compromising the characteristics of the city.

Supervised by Mr. Ying Wen and designed by Luo Zhanyi and Yang Zhenming, students of the School of Architecture and Urban Planning, the works Wisdom in China Port-2035 Huangyan-Future Intelligent Home Urban Design for Wisdom in China 2035 took Taizhou Huangyan Port Area as the main body. The works explored the mode of Wisdom in China Port that integrated production, human and space. Based on the intelligent manufacturing connotation of the whole-process participatory production of intelligent innovation, and intelligent sales, three intelligent manufacturing space levels of urban area-port area-plant unit were established, three intelligent innovation-intelligent sales units and two intelligent sales units were formed in the base, and the space and form of intelligent manufacturing mode were designed. If the innovation of this model is able to integrate production into citizens' life, it will allow citizens to participate in customized production in the whole process, and also link the Port Area with urban development of Taizhou, so as to contribute to the construction of intelligent home in the future and the exploration, practice and goal realization of Wisdom in China 2035.

Supervised by Mr. Gu Yuanyuan and designed by Ma Yingbo and Li Yunting, students of the School of Architecture and Urban Planning, the work "Intelligent Device-Arena" was a future "Intelligent-Device-Arena" that featured urban development based on the characteristic "intelligent manufacturing" industry of Yongchuan, by introducing the pursuit of spiritual life and leisure and entertainment of "competition". Furthermore, it provided popular and diversified competitions through activity planning and venue construction. Taking "competitive ring" and "intelligent device competitive node" as the core, the venue was divided into five parts: intelligent device themed block, immersive amusement block, interactive service area, intelligent manufacturing laboratory and future intelligent manufacturing park, so as to make "Intelligent Device-Arena" a signature of the city, and build it into an ecological park for citizens and intelligent manufacturing demonstration base.

Supervised by Ms. Yang Liu and designed by Xiang Ziyin and Xiao Luo, students of the School of Architecture and Urban Planning, the works "Hidden”- Renewal Design of Ciqikou Ancient Town Under The Concept of Hidden Wisdom, which took the method of "hidden wisdom" and brought modern technology into the life of the Ancient Town while protecting the traditional style of the Ancient Town. It was designed to improve the habitability and tourism in a number of areas in a wise manner, and allow the modern development and the protection of the Ancient Town to integrate and complement each other, thus avoiding the possible impact of intelligent facilities on the style of the Ancient Town.

Supervised by Ms. Yang Liu and designed by Xie Xinyi and Xu Ziya, students from the School of Architecture and Urban Planning, the work “Cloud Cabin-Garden View-Amid the Landscape” selected the Fenghuanghu R&D Service Area in Yongchuan, Chongqing as the design body and was an exploratory design on the future intelligent home. Drawing on the concepts of Smart Internet of Things and classical gardens, the students put forward the spatial model of human activities in the future intelligent home-cloud cabin, to create a three-level "brain-pivot-cell" system, and realized the flexible connection and variable movement of activity space. In addition, this design reserved more space for natural landscape, and created a landscape painting environment of the home. Taking into account the local conditions of the area, the design included three functional interfaces of production, life and ecology and created an open platform suitable for research, learning, creation, residence and tourism to form a landscape scroll of intelligent human residence in the future, which features the integration of research and residence with the support of intelligent technology and the combination of nature and garden.

Supervised by Yang Liu and designed by Zhou Yuqing and Liu Sicheng, students of the School of Architecture and Urban Planning, the work "Tracing-Tracking" was based on concepts of "human trace" and "digital trace". The "human trace" refers to the real material historical information that will disappear over time. Through XR technology, the human trace can be enhanced and expanded, and they can be translated into "digital trace", i.e., virtual memory information. The renovation of Ciqikou Ancient Town was reflected in the setting of several trace points such as the somatosensory game of Mr Creative Workshop, AR drama performance on the peninsula and VR Memory Museum. XR technology can be used to maximize the expression of reality, while protecting the original ecological style of the Ancient Town, so that each piece of historical information has its own time and space field, and can be used to comprehensively trace back the history of the Ancient Town throughout the river of long history. It was designed to meet the different needs of different people for the venue, and realize personalized customization with the use of technical dynamics in a perfect combination of tracking and tracing.
