Nine CQU teachers and students win honors in 13th Scientific and Technological Innovation Mayor Awards for Teenagers of Chongqing

Chongqing Municipal People's Government has recently released the Decision to Commend Winners of the 13th Scientific and Technological Innovation Mayor Awards for Teenagers of Chongqing. According to the Decision, 9 students and teachers of Chongqing University were commended. In particular, 5 of the students and teachers were given the Award and 4 were nominated. This is the first that that CQU teachers and students have won this Award.



Scientific and Technological Innovation Mayor Award for Teenagers, which were previously only given to primary and middle school students, is now extended to also cover college students and young people in employment. With active efforts made by CQU in declaration and recommendation, Prof. Hu Xiaosong from the School of Mechanical and Vehicle Engineering and Prof. Chen Zengshun from the School of Civil Engineering won the Mayor Award (for Young People in Employment); Sha Zhou from Chongqing University-University of Cincinnati Joint Co-op Institute, Gu Xuyang from Meishi Film Academy and Mo Qionghua from the School of Opto-Electronic Engineering won the Mayor Award (for College Students). Associate Professor Zeng Wen from the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Zhang Bingfei and Song Yijia from the School of Electrical Engineering and Chen Dan from the School of Materials Science and Engineering were among the nominees.


The 13th Scientific and Technological Innovation Mayor Awards for Teenagers of Chongqing were reportedly given to 30 people by Chongqing Municipal People's Government after careful selection, review, and investigation throughout the entire municipality, as part of the efforts made to deeply implement the spirit of the President Xi Jinping's series of speeches on scientific and technological innovation, encourage young people in employment, college students, middle school students and primary school students to actively participate in scientific and technological innovation, promote nurturing of scientific and technological innovation talent reserve among teenagers, and create a social atmosphere that encourages love for science and innovation. Among the 30 award winners, there are 10 young people in employment, 10 college students and 10 primary and middle school students. In addition, 28 people were nominated for the Awards in Chongqing Municipality.
