Ambassador of Ireland to China H.E. Ann Derwin was on a visit to Chongqing University on the morning of July 28, 2022. Shu Lichun, Secretary of CPC CQU Committee, received Ann Derwin and her companions and had a discussion with them. Liu Hanlong, Managing Vice President of Chongqing University, appeared at the event.
Shu Lichun gave a view of the exchange and cooperation between Chongqing University and Irish colleges and universities, and the "1+1+1" double-degree postgraduate program offered in collaboration with University College Dublin. Chongqing University has sent a total of 24 students to University College Dublin for further study in the past 5 years. Shu expressed his hope that the Ambassador would make efforts to support and bolster the cooperation and exchange between the colleges, universities and teachers of Ireland and Chongqing University, and recommend outstanding PhD graduates to work in CQU.
H.E. Ann Derwin gave an introduction to the efforts made by Ireland in its higher education reform and merger and reorganization of universities of science and engineering. She went on to add that by now totally 14 colleges and universities had worked with 46 colleges and universities in China and established 95 China-foreign cooperative education programs and institutions approved by the government, which are based in 27 cities and regions in China. H.E. Ann Derwin invited Chinese students to study, work or do an internship in Ireland. She also expressed her expectation for further cooperation and exchange with Chongqing University.
The two sides reached an agreement to further mutual cooperation, and promote in-depth, all-round cooperation between CQU and colleges and universities in Ireland by way of virtual meeting, among others.

Ann Derwin, Luo Jiali, Cultural Officer, Irish Embassy to China, Li Mingquan, Deputy Director of the Office of Foreign Affairs, Chongqing Municipal People's Government and Wei Xi, Deputy Director of the Office of Africa and Europe Affairs, accompanied H.E. Ann Derwin. Huang He, Director of the Office of International Affairs, and Gao Xiang, Deputy Director, showed up at the above events.
